If your child is absent due to illness, please report this using the Studybugs app or website. There is also a banner on the homepage of the website which takes you directly to Studybugs website. This allows us to record illness-related absences accurately and efficiently.

For other messages or additional communications, you may use School Gateway, for example to notify the school office of absence for reasons other than illness, or to book school meals and clubs. However, Studybugs should be used as the primary method for reporting illness-related absences.

Term-time holiday requests:

As a school, we cannot authorise time off for family holidays during term time.  Parents must apply for leave of absence during term time in all instances. To request a leave of absence, please email office@ormskirk-ce.lancs.sch.uk and head@ormskirk-ce.lancs.sch.uk

Our default position is that leave of absence during term time will not be authorised unless exceptional circumstances. By definition, it is expected that there will be very few authorised leave of absences. If parents decide to take the holiday anyway, the absence will be unauthorised, and the parents may receive a Penalty Notice Fine. Penalty Notice Fines can be issued to each parent for every child concerned.  

As a parent/carer, it is your legal responsibility to ensure that your child attends school regularly or to provide an appropriate reason for any absence. It is the school’s responsibility to record these reasons. Children with persistently poor attendance may be referred to the Local Authority Attendance Team.

Children make the best progress at school through regular and punctual attendance.
